Raiders Activate Rookie Tyree Wilson

The Las Vegas Raiders have cleared rookie defensive end Tyree Wilson to practice, according to a report by the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vinny Bonsignore. Wilson had been sidelined for months with a foot injury, missing key events like Rookie Camp, and training camp.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Wilson was the 7th overall pick out of Texas-Tech in the 2023 NFL Draft. He was expected to be a key contributor to the Raiders’ pass rush this season, but his injury has delayed his arrival.

Wilson’s return to the field is a major boost for the Raiders’ defense. He is a versatile player who can play both inside and outside, With an 86 inch wing-span Tyree is going to be a problem for opposing Quarterbacks when it comes to forcing fumbles and batting passes.

The Raiders will likely ease Wilson back into practice after his long layoff. I would imagine Tyree will be ready for the regular season opener against the Denver Broncos on September 10, hopefully sooner so he can get some reps in before the regular season starts.

Wilson’s addition to the Raiders’ defense gives them a formidable pass rush. The team already has veterans Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones on the edge, and Wilson gives them another playmaker. The Raiders are hoping that their pass rush can help them improve their bottom of the league ranked defense.

To beat Kansas City they must put a lot of pressure on Quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Wilson’s return is a step in the right direction as the defense has already made strides and has looked better as a whole so far in joint practice and a week 1 pre-season matchup with the 49ers.

Wilson’s return should only increase the fans confidence in this teams Defense going forward.
