Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is expected to return to the team by Week 1 of the regular season, according to multiple reports. Jacobs has been holding out as he and the Raiders were unable to agree on a long-term contract extension.

However, The Las Vegas Review Journals Vinny Bonsignore & The Athletics Vic Tafur both have stated Jacobs is expected to report to the team before the start of the season. This is a major development for the Raiders, as Jacobs is one of their most important players.

When asked if there are any updates on Josh Jacobs the day after the Rams-Raiders pre-season matchup, Head Coach Josh McDaniels replied:

“I don’t have any new news on JJ [Josh Jacobs]. I mean, I would say I think that it’s important for every player – this is the National Football League, so it’s not easy to go out there and just play games and do it at the speed and level that you want to do it at unless you’ve really kind of had enough opportunity to get yourself ready to do that.”

Jacobs’ return would give the Raiders a major boost in their backfield. They also have Zamir White and Brandon Bolden, but Jacobs is the clear-cut starter.

Jacobs’ return is a positive development for the Raiders. He is a talented running back who can help them win games. His presence in the backfield will make the Raiders a more dangerous team in 2023.

A most likely scenario is one that the Front Office and Jacobs come to an agreement on a new 1 year deal and get back to negotiating a long term deal next off-season. Either way it will be good for the team to get one of their most important players back on the field.
