With the 2023 NFL season fastly approaching there seems to be something different about this edition of the Las Vegas Raiders. Last year under Josh McDaniels’ first season as head Coach the team finished 6-11 with a home record of 4-4 and a road record of 2-7 with nine total losses by a touchdown or less.
Fast forward to 2023 where the new regime had a full year to install the systems on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and a complete analysis of the existing roster giving them the blueprint of this team to their ideology.
The saying, “Rome was not built in a day” stands true to the building of a Championship Caliber franchise. The installation of this is the most important for it’s the foundation to build upon.
With revelations of work ethic, intelligence, and the love for the game that are possessed by the new editions of the roster through free agency as well as drafted and undrafted players, there seems to be something different among this roster since the new regime took over.
That thing that you might ask? Optimism, Yes that’s right, optimism! The thing that gives you hope is that the moves made were the moves needed to improve the Raiders to make them relevant again. It has been a long up-and-down journey for some who have been around long enough to witness the glory of old ride off into the sunset not knowing of its return.
As we get closer to the autumn wind’s approach and the birth of a new season, something feels different. The players have a different swag and a different confidence about themselves. A confidence that is not cocky but is assured that the hard work put into the offseason will reward them with success.
So, if this Las Vegas Raiders team is committed to establishing the Silver and Black back to the dominance they once were, bringing along the fear and intimidation that caused other teams to all shake and quiver and quake then I too am committed to optimism.
