The Las Vegas Raiders have restructured the contract of wide receiver Jakobi Meyers per Field Yates, creating $3.136 million in salary cap space for the 2023 season. This move comes after the signing of Cornerback Marcus Peters Monday afternoon.
The restructuring converts $3.92 million of Meyers’ base salary into a signing bonus, while adding two void years to his contract. This will lower his 2023 cap hit from $7.289 million to $3.353 million.
Meyers, 26, signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Raiders in March.
In 2022, Meyers caught 86 passes for 866 yards and two touchdowns. He was a key part of the Patriots’ offense, and he is expected to be a productive player for the Raiders as well.
They have already made some big moves this offseason, and the restructuring of Meyers’ contract gives them more resources to work with. The restructuring of his contract ensures that he will be with the team for the foreseeable future.
The Raiders are currently in a good position to show improvement this season barring health and the outcome of Star Running Back Josh Jacobs. They have a talented roster with a lot more depth than the team had in 2022.
Training camp is underway and the team will hit the field for the first day of practice with no pads, Exciting time football is back!
