In todays first day of joint practice between the Raiders and the 49ers there was a sense of success within the Raiders . There was success in every level of the team. The offense did well, notably in the redzone where Jimmy Garoppolo was a surgeon dicing up the 49ers defense for a 15 yard touchdown to Tight End Austin Hooper. The Defense was breaking passes up and grabbing an interception as a nice Souvenir for day 1 of joint practices.
Nesta Jade Silvera was putting in work and setting the tone in todays Practice vs the Visiting 49ers.
When asked about Silvera, Maxx Crosby had this to say
“Hell yea, Hell yea. Nesta’s a Dog. He’s getting after it. I loved him since the first day he came in. He had the attitude you can just tell he’s hungry. He’s just getting better and better. Ness is one of those guys you can see clear as day. Obviously he’s got things to clean up. obviously he has room for improvement, just like all of us. You know he’s a rookie but the way you stand out is flying to the ball, being mean, having an attitude . He’s one of those guys, you know he plays violent, he’s getting better as a rusher, he’s getting better against the run. He’s able to do a lot of things. I love what he’s doing. I think he’s gonna be a big-time player for us”
If Nesta Jade Silvera can come in and be a key contributor on the interior then what a bargain for a 7th round pick that some didn’t expect to make the team when he was drafted.
Missing in Action:
Jimmy had a good day against his old team, he connected with Star Wide Receiver Davante Adams on a Touchdown to go with the Touchdown he connected on with Tight End Austin Hooper.
Marcus Peters was being Marcus Peters jawing at the Niners offense and letting his presence be felt, nabbing a pick as well. Here’s what Maxx had to say about what the edition of Marcus Peters brings to the defense.
“Bringing Marcus Peters in, he’s an Elite ballhawk and you can see that every single day. I think he got another pick today. He’s just one of those guys that’s super sticky, he has great instincts.”
Amik Robertson broke up the last pass in end zone to end practice. Amik has quietly had a solid camp. Every year he’s a question Mark on the roster and every year he goes out and proves he belongs, so far he’s doing the same thing in 2023.
The Defense was as good as advertised during training camp vs the Niners in practice. It was a great test for this Defensive line to go up against one of the better Offensive lines in the league.
I expect the Team to continue to bring the energy and compete at every level of the game. Day 2 of joint practice should be interesting.
