As the season approaches the Raiders were busy Monday as they hosted a pair of Veteran Cornerbacks Troy Hill, & Marcus Peters in Henderson. The Las Vegas Raiders finalized a deal & signed Veteran Cornerback Marcus Peters.
A former Pro Bowler and All-Pro who is expected to be a major upgrade to their secondary bringing his toughness, & leadership to a young group.
From Rival to Raider
Peters Grew up in the Bay Area rooting for the Raiders, it’s only right he suits up in the Silver & Black.
While Peters, 30 isn’t in his prime he is an immediate impact player for the Silver & Black. Peters spent the past three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, where he started 42 games and had 12 interceptions. He also had 51 passes defensed and three forced fumbles.
In his seven-year NFL career, Peters has 32 interceptions, 92 passes defensed, and 11 forced fumbles. He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 and has been selected to three Pro Bowls.
The addition of Peters is a major boost for the Raiders, who ranked 28th in the NFL in passing yards allowed last season. Peters is a physical, aggressive cornerback who can play both man and zone coverage. He is also a dangerous return man, having returned two interceptions for touchdowns in his career.
Peters’ signing gives the Raiders a formidable starting cornerback duo of him and Nate Hobbs. The Raiders also have a number of young, talented cornerbacks in Duke Shelley, Brandon Facyson, Sam Webb, Rookie Jakorian Bennett and others. This could be a major factor in the team’s success in 2023.
Here are some of the potential benefits of the Raiders signing Marcus Peters:
- Peters is a proven playmaker who can create turnovers. He has 32 interceptions and 100 passes defensed in his seven-year NFL career.
- Peters is a physical cornerback who can match up with top receivers. He is not afraid to get physical and make plays in the open field.
- Peters is a veteran presence who can help mentor the Raiders’ young cornerbacks. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge playing for winning organizations that he can share with the younger players.
The Raiders are hoping that Peters can help them improve their pass defense in 2023. If he can stay healthy and play at a high level, he could be a major factor in the team’s success.
