Possible Free Agents that Could Elevate the Raiders

Possible Free Agents that Could Elevate the Raiders

Marcus Peters Cornerback

Age Entering 2023: 30

Height: 6’0” Weight: 197

2022 PFF Grade: 67.7

Every Raider fan knows Marcus Peters, born and raised in Oakland, drafted by the Chiefs, ball hawk. 2022 was not one of his better seasons in the NFL, only 1 INT and 2 pass breakups, all while allowing 5 TDs. But we have seen this before with Casey Heyward, a player that a lot of people had said was too old and lost a step, and he was lockdown for this team in 2021. The CB room needs a veteran presence, and while he will give up TDs, he also gets INTs (2022 excluding) If you can sign him to a one-year deal, that’s reasonable, there is zero reason to not bring him in.

Duron Harmon Safety
Age Entering 2023: 32

Height: 6’0” Weight: 205

2022 PFF Grade: 72.3

Don’t need to say much on this one. The dude was one of the few defenders on the rosters last season that wasn’t a complete liability. Yea, you have added Epps, Johnson, and Smith this off-season but who cares. He’s a vet that you can sign on the cheap, if the other guys struggle you can trust him to come in and play well. If they don’t struggle you have a vet/leader that can help mentor Moehrig and Smith, along with the other young secondary guys, it makes a ton of sense.

AJ Cann Right Guard

Age Entering 2023: 31

Height: 6’3” Weight: 320

2022 PFF Grade: 66.6

The hot name right now is Dalton Risner is only going to be 28 to start the 2023 season, but Cann though older may be the better option. First, he will come in at a cheaper price than Risner due to his age. Second Cann is the far superior run blocker, which was something that this offensive line was good at in 2022. Third, Cann has played RG his entire career, and Risner has only played LG. As it stands today the left side of our offensive line is all set, why not pay someone less to play the spot they’ve always played instead of paying for someone and hoping they can play in a different spot?

Rashaan Evans

Age Entering 2023: 26

Height: 6’2” Weight: 232

2022 PFF Grade: 59.6

Our linebacking room may be the worst in football right now. Spillane has never carried a full workload, Deablo is unproven, Masteron and Butler are UDFAs, Burney was a 6th-round pick, and Drake Thomas was a UDFA signed this year. WE NEED HELP. Evans in his career has been up and down, last season he started all 17 games for the Falcons registering 1 INT, 4 PBUs along with 159 tackles and 2 sacks. I am sorry but we don’t have a linebacker on this roster who has ever been that productive. He is young so signing him to a two-year deal isn’t that big of an issue (Ziegler has said he wants to avoid one-year deals) Did I mention that in 2022 the due has 4 PBUs, and our LBs combined in 2022 had 4 PBUs. Hands-on balls, we need guys who do that, Evans can do that.

Leonard Floyd

Age Entering 2023: 31

Height: 6’5” Weight: 240

2022 PFF Grade: 65.7

This one seems to be a pipe dream of mine. We have Maxx, Chandler, and draft, Tyree Wilson, add in Floyd will be a more expensive guy and it just doesn’t add up. BUT has a total of 29 sacks combined in the last three seasons, you cannot lie that a production like that would help this team tenfold. Have him be a third-down pass rush specialist only and have Graham come up with creative ways to have Maxx, Chandler, Tyree, and Floyd on the field all at once. A great way to cover up a bad secondary is a great pass rush, adding another horse to our stable would be awesome. However, I will admit this one is a dream and not realistic at all.

Teddy Bridgewater

Age Entering 2023: 30

Height: 6’2” Weight: 212

2022 PFF Grade: 71.2

This one should be obvious; Jimmy G gets hurt (a lot) Brian Hoyer was QB3 on New England last year and we don’t know what we have in Aiden O’Connell. Bringing in a steady-hand QB like Teddy Two Gloves would be helpful for the inevitable time when Jimmy misses some games. He can manage the offense, complete passes, and not turn the ball over.

Other Names:

-Trai Turner Guard

-William Jackson III Cornerback

-Taylor Lewan Tackle: he has a connection to Ziegler from his childhood, the only reason to keep an eye on him. The dude plays Tackle, which we have in spades, and has only played on the left side since coming into the NFL. But just find him interesting to keep an eye on.

Zach Cunningham Linebacker

-Matthew Ioannidis Defensive Tackle

-Troy Hill Cornerback

-Ndamukong Suh: just seems like an inevitable thing that he ends up a Raider someday, queue up young Suh in his Raiders starter jacket picture.

-Chase Daniels Quarterback

With all this said, none of these guys are going to come in and be All Pros (more than likely) but right now we have holes on our roster that need filling. These guys can come in and help fill those holes.
