Yes, Davante Adam’s comments were concerning, it is not ideal. But we as a fanbase need to take a deep breath and remember a few things. First, this is a quote from an article. There is context to everything, if you do not believe me, read the below blurb:
No matter what the offense looks like, Adams is committed to making it work. “My goal is to win a Super Bowl with this team. And that’s why I didn’t come here to just be cute with Derek,” he says. “It is to really try and have a shot and
change this organization.”
We all need to remember that this man is a pro’s pro who loves being a Raider, he grew up a fan. Honestly, this proves one thing, Ziegler isn’t a liar. He had stated on the Bussin With The Boys podcast that he is communicating with Davante, that they have an open dialogue, and here is the proof that this isn’t lip service. Lastly, please watch this video of Davante Adams speaking about Maxx Crosby, Davante Adams on Maxx CrosbyThis was from an off-the-record conversation, that he didn’t know would become public, and he is praising Maxx Crosby. Not to mention AJ Hawk was at the Kentucky Derby with Davante Adams all weekend and he walked away with the feeling this team would be better off. If Davante was unhappy to the point of being pessimistic about the team, wanting a trade, or hating McDaniels/Ziegler don’t you think someone, who was obviously around him talking football all weekend, would walk away thinking this team was going to improve? The point is this, yes, the quote doesn’t read great and gives me pause but let’s not get held up in one sentence, and let’s look at the whole picture. The man is praising this team behind closed doors (see the above clip) and also, by the way, showing up to Organized Team Activity. It was not an ideal sentence, but let’s not burn down the village thinking he hates this team, we all need to relax and look at the whole picture.
